For last decades, diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating has been industrialized in
wide range of industry from machining tools, data storage, automobile
components to biomedical implants. Although this variety of application is
based on the tunable properties of the DLC coating, it becomes important to
establish the standard or classification of the DLC coating for further
promotion of its industrial applications. Encouraged by the pioneering works in
Last year, we held 1st Workshop for International Standardization of Diamond-like Carbon Coatings on Oct. 1-3, 2008, successfully. This session joins the fruits obtained 1st workshop to the world wide round robin test of DLC coatings.
This session will focus on the following
issues.
1. Review of the present status of DLC standardization in
2. Survey of the requirements in industry (Automobile,
Electronics, Machining tools, Machine parts, etc.)
3. Identification of the key parameters for the classification of DLC coating
4. Specification of the characterization method for the
classification of DLC coating
5. Industrial guideline for the supply of DLC coating
6. How to keep secret in technology for successful round robin test
